My Approach to Therapy

I prioritise your comfort and needs, listening first and talking later. I treat everyone with courtesy, respect, and understanding, creating a “safe” space for open conversation and change.

I use various therapies to identify the root causes of your issues and help you manage and overcome obstacles. This can involve talking therapy focused on thoughts and feelings, or incorporating imagination, relaxation, and hypnosis for powerful behavioural changes.

We do not need to revisit past events to achieve lasting change.

Stress, Anxiety & Worry

Most people feel overwhelmed at some point due to immense demands and/or responsibilities. This leads to stress, anxiety, and worry, impacting their quality of life. Your anxiety might stem from specific events like starting a new job, giving a presentation a disagreement or a sense of unease arising generally due to life pressures. If you are struggling, I can help you explore ways to free yourself from anxiety, stress and worry using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Hypnotherapy, allowing you to live a more fulfilled life.

I also teach self-hypnosis and other techniques to help you manage stress effectively in your daily life.

Panic Attacks

Learn to control your reactions and reduce the frequency / intensity.

Panic attacks can occur at different times for everyone. Some people have just one, while others experience them regularly. Triggers can include stressful appointments or specific situations.

Most panic attacks last 5 to 20 minutes, peaking within 10 minutes. However, symptoms can persist longer due to a second attack or ongoing anxiety, including fear of having another panic attack.

In therapy, I will teach you coping mechanisms like cognitive restructuring and strategies to control your reactions, reducing the frequency and intensity of panic attacks.

Emotional Flashbacks / Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Emotional Flashbacks and PTSD can occur after experiencing or witnessing a life-threatening event or experiencing trauma. Example causes include serious accidents, military combat, natural disasters, terrorist incidents, birth trauma and physical/emotion abuse or sexual assault.  Individuals exposed to trauma in their work can also be affected.

Initially, people may feel emotionally numb. Distress might not appear immediately, but emotional and physical reactions can develop later, leading to changes in behaviour.  In therapy, I will tailor the treatment to address your specific issues.

Social Anxiety & Confidence

Social anxiety is a common disorder that affects many people. It involves an intense fear of being observed or judged, causing discomfort in situations like talking with friends or meeting new people. If anxiety is preventing you from seizing social or work opportunities, I have the resources to help you excel.

Fears & Phobias

Phobias are more common than people think. They are irrational fears without a logical basis. Some common phobias include fear of insects, heights, or confined spaces, but a phobia can be about anything. Over 11% of people have some form of irrational fear. When addressing fears and phobias I use a combination of EFT and Hypnotherapy both of which are scientifically proven.

Habits

Hypnotherapy is a powerful way to break unwanted habits like nail biting, hair pulling, or overeating. I can help you replace these unhealthy habits with healthier, more beneficial ones.

Building Confidence, Resilience and Assertiveness

Do life circumstances leave you feeling inadequate? Do you question your value and self-worth? Do you want to become more resilient, assertive and confident at work or home?  Do you have a fear of speaking in public?

Building true confidence is a lifelong journey. It begins with understanding your current state and identifying what you need to move forward. I can help you build your confidence and self-worth, equipping you with the tools and techniques for a stronger sense of self.

Emotional support when life overwhelms and/or you are experiencing difficult emotions

I offer a safe, non-judgemental space where you can be yourself and freely express your feelings and emotions. I will support you in reflecting and finding ways to move forward.

Sleep/Insomnia

When it comes to sleep, quality matters—a lot. Whether you occasionally struggle to drift off or find yourself tossing and turning every night, poor sleep can take a toll on both your daily life and overall performance. Insomnia often goes hand in hand with anxiety or worry, and addressing these underlying issues is crucial.

We will use simple techniques which can help make sleeping much easier including relaxation, hypnosis, hypnotherapy and mindfulness.
